Industrial Systems & Automation Engineering

Embedded hardware, firmware and interfaces for industrial devices, from first prototype to products that stay maintainable in the field.

Industrial products often live for many years, in many variants, connected to systems that change around them. CEVOLARION supports the electronics, embedded software and interfaces of such devices, and the engineering that carries them into production and through later change.

Layers of a connected industrial device

An industrial device connects field hardware to systems above it. Highlighted layers are where embedded engineering work typically sits.

  1. Upstream systemsPlant, cloud or enterprise platforms
  2. Edge and gateway interfacesMQTT, REST, industrial networks
  3. Application firmwareDevice function
  4. Platform softwareRTOS or bare-metal, drivers, update
  5. Device electronicsMicrocontroller, power, input/output
  6. Sensors, actuators and processField level

Where the engineering work sits

The agreed assignment determines which activities are included and where the responsibility boundary sits.

Embedded hardware and firmware

Electronics development, board support, drivers and embedded software for bare-metal or RTOS-based devices, developed together where both are in scope.

Device, edge and upstream interfaces

Communication between devices, edge systems and upstream platforms, including embedded networks and MQTT or REST-based interfaces where relevant to the architecture.

Software update and start-up behaviour

Bootloaders and update mechanisms that let deployed devices receive new software in a controlled way.

Prototype-to-production support

Design maturation, BOM and manufacturing documentation, and technical coordination with suppliers or production organisations.

Variants and lifecycle change

Controlled adaptation of an existing baseline for product variants or customers, component changes and sustaining engineering.

Typical starting points

  • A device concept needs electronics and firmware developed together to reach a first prototype.

  • A working prototype must be matured and documented for production.

  • An existing device needs a new interface to an edge or upstream system.

  • Component obsolescence forces a controlled redesign across several variants.

How fit is assessed

Industrial products differ widely. Fit is assessed from the device, its interfaces, the standards that apply and the responsibility the assignment carries, not from the industry label alone.

Common questions

Can you develop both the electronics and the firmware?

Yes. Where both are in scope they can be developed in one team, so pin allocation, interfaces and bring-up findings are resolved together.

Do you take a device through to series production?

Engineering support covers design maturation, manufacturing documentation and coordination with the production organisation. Production responsibilities are agreed with the relevant manufacturing organisation.

Can you maintain a product we developed ourselves?

Sustaining engineering on an existing baseline is possible after a structured handover of design data, configuration and known issues.

Discretion is part of the service.

Customer projects, organisations and technical details are not used as marketing material without permission. Fit is established through the scope, engineering methods, responsibility boundary and direct technical discussion.

Discuss an industrial device, interface or lifecycle engineering scope.

Start with the product, standards and interfaces that shape the assignment. We will assess the required competence and responsibility together.
